Images are digitally calibrated as icons on that ubiquitously modern electronic façade: the computer desktop page. The first two examples  may be considered to have some ‘profound philosophical content’ while with the latter ‘desktops’ I playfully re-contextualize ordinary photos which can be considered to have a more personable ‘domestic quality’; following on from the way Dutch artists in earlier centuries saw the human value in painting scenes from everyday life. Dutch art of this domestic style is very interesting to me as it showed the lives of ordinary people who were normally considered too 'lowly' to be the subject matter of paintings. After all, consider the Italian Renaissance which specifically portrayed the heavens, bible scenes and noble people as worthy subject matter. In much the same way I have simply gone over a few everyday photos and re-presented them here in the following context. Although, the photos for the first two 'starts' were specifically taken for this project.

human fate/modern labrynth

The first download image called human fate has the image of the Archibald Fountain sculpture (in Hyde Park. Sydney) of Theseus about to slay the Minotaur; directly behind is the circular Wheel of Fortune window of St. Mary's Cathedral. This window makes reference to the idea that people can be ensnared by earthly fate as the corresponding window on the other side inside the church is usually the Rose Window which is in reference to Heaven and which reminds the pilgrim that rather than be controlled by earthly fate which leads to fear and death rather be directed by Divine Wisdom which is based on love and life. Thus taking this mediavel notion one step further to a modern setting I have placed the IKEA shopping path alongside the first photo as a sort of modern labrynth which is made more apparent in the next image entitled Modern Labrynth. The spectator may wish to interpret the conceptual framework of the image/s in any way they wish.

Due to technical difficulties there is no writing in black start box in human fate. The other images are more or less self-explanatory but from feedback that I have received I felt the first two images needed some explanation.
