'When wil it be finished?' I hear some of my freinds continue to ask in frustration as I continue to work on my 'flagship novel' LISA. Hopefully, soon...
LISA is a single mother in Sydney who as she faces death travels along a psychological road akin to the pilgrim’s journey in the Divine Comedy: Hell, Purgatory & finally – Paradise. A human sojourn forcefully brought on by crisis & which can only be criitically resolved through hope. Lisa has a small circle of friends supporting her including Cat – an inner-city ‘cowboy prophet’ who dwells on how the imperial destinies of empires entangle every human being. He quixotically hopes to come to terms with such ubiquitous human corruptibility so everyone – including Lisa – may come to realize what it means to be truly free.

Darkness & Light is a novella
in which a strange being falls into a subterrenean cavern and is captured by
the Telshmen of Ashur. Ashur's elite will cynically display this captive to a
warring industrial world as a messiah who will call on a 'final push' for total
victory. It's safe to say this enclosed underworld serves as a harsh metaphor
for the cruel, amoral aspects of humanity.
Eventually this 'messiah' leads a
military expedition to the surface where it is confronted by another modern war
which even the reader will find unexpectingly different. A captured partisan is
forced against his will to guide this foreign expedition over hostile territory
in which the Telshmen have to also come to terms with a sunlit endless sky.
As the suspense builds up to a
karmic gut-wrenching climax it is asked of the reader to consider how in any
world of false prophets should an individual sacrifice his or her life for what
is truly just? Perhaps a question one may be able to answer at the end of this
devestating read. All the best.

LANANG
A young brave orang utang named Lanang who - inspired
by the 1960s Japanese crime fighter television series Pahantom Agents -
organises a small band of 'orangutangnistas' to defeat Mara the big time
poacher who kidnaps baby orang utangs. LANANG is a heroic
'against-all-the-impossible-odds' fable of a commando style rescue mission to
save hundreds of orang utang orphans caged in Mara Ranch - the well fortified
'dark heart' of Mara's poaching empire.
"Okay/" whispered Lanang.
"You'll all know what you have to do. We have spent many years training
hard for something like this and no matter what happens I promise all of you
that this evening will go down in our history as a night of honour. We are
doing what we have to do. All of you are brave. I am proud to be your
leader."

AMERICAN WAR BOOGIE WOOGIE
In this poetry collection are visual 'concrete poems' based mainly on U.S. media statements that deal with justifying the 2003 Iraq War and its immediate tragic aftermath which includes the nightmare of Abu Ghraib. Some of these 'visual poems' also consider a post 9/11 world which includes Guantanamo Bay and government surveillance communication regimes set up to monitor terrorist activity in civil societies but, which it is feared, also subvert and infringe in an Orwellian way the civil rights which underpin modern democracies.
